Sarawak 1870 cent secured by PCGS in MS63BN, this is one of my favourite collection in 2016. I believed this coin is not surprising for most of the Sarawak coinage enthusiast that it is actually extremely challenging to grab the piece which is still well preserved in mint state condition. I have tried it for almost 3 years of time after I managed to acquire a piece of same year type in “proof” condition.
According the Krause catalogue, the mintage of this copper coin is remained unknown until today. Thus, it sounds difficult for us to speculate how many pieces of them are still well maintained until today. Insofar, there are only 10 pieces which managed to score numerical grade in established population report, and only 6 of them are mint state in condition. If some of them are crossed over among the grading companies or break-and-resend, the real number may even lesser than record.
Coin hunting is always an adventure journey, you will never know the number will keep increase or constant in future, start your hunting ride to grab yourself a piece before too late!
